English page    Welcome to pvr-ripper     zur deutschen Seite
______________________________________________________________________

This is the download page of the programs WinPVR and pvr-ripper. Both are useful for owners of Hyundai and Kathrein satellite receivers with hard disk.
The programs read video- and audio-records from the hard disk and transfer them into a personal computer. Before doing this the HD must be moved from the receiver into the PC.
Receivers with the right recording format are Kathrein HSS552/554, Hyundai HSS720 to HSS830, Digian2000/3000. The Kathrein UFD580 uses a different recording format. It is not possible to read its harddisk.

Download WinPVR0.9.5.zip
Actual hard disk ripper with graphical user interface by Boom and Andal.
The new program version have a preview window (since 0.9.0) and some additional improvements.
This version is not useful for ripping of DVB-Radio, please use WinPVRRaw0.7.0.zip.

WinPVR is able to rip video and audio raw. That is, it puts out the data in the same mode as stored by the receiver disk. Raw data can be processed by several programs which had been developed for other receivers.
Output files normal mode: xxx.m2v (video), xxx.mp2 or xxx.ac3 (audio)
Output files raw mode: xxx.pva (video), xxx.mpp (audio) (check the boxes "Rip stream raw" and "Rip audio raw")
For information: xxx.pva corresponds not with the data format of some PC receiver cards.
More information in readme.txt (included in WinPVR.zip)
WinPVR is running under Win2000, NT, or XP. It is not working under Win95/98.
WinPVR 0.9.0 and later needs the libraries mfc70.dll, msvcp70.dll, msvcr70.dll. They exist usually in the directories c:\windows\system32\ or c:\winnt\system32\. WinPVR requests these libraries if they are missing. If you don't find the libraries in any PC you can download them from www.dynamiclink.nl/dll-m.htm and copy them into one of these directories.

Download pvr-ripper057.zip
Last command line version of the hard disk ripper by Boom.
pvr-ripper is running under Win2000, NT, or XP (DOS-Box). It is not working under Win95/98.
Only in German: More information in readme.txt and instruction.txt (included in pvr-ripper.zip).

You also can download some older versions of the programs:
WinPVR0.9.0.zip    WinPVRRaw0.7.0.zip    WinPVR0.7.0.zip    WinPVR0.6.4.zip     pvr-ripper056.zip    pvr-ripper055.zip
Sometimes someone could need them ;-)

Boom made two small tools which make our life more easy:

Download cleandrive.exe
It fills the hard disk with zero bytes. The structure of the directory is not deleted. Cleandrive is the right tool for people who like to do their own research and experiments. After using it you can easily find out where the receiver writes new data.
Cleandrive is running under Win2000, NT or XP (not Win95/98), and must be started via the command prompt (DOS-Box) with the declaration of the drive name. Example: cleandrive e:
Caution! Cleandrive deletes all records from the hard disk.

Download ac3cut.zip
This tool cuts ac3-files.
It is also running under Win2000, NT or XP using the command prompt. You have to declare the file name, the cut-in time (in seconds), and the cut-out time.
Example: ac3cut infile from_second to_second
The format of the seconds is 31.26 or 7827.65 or similar.

Here you find some additional information:

Tips & Tricks using WinPVR (sorry, only in German)
I collected several informations which could help you applying the ripper program WinPVR.

Boom's short introduction explains the main parts of the data structure of the Hyundai/Kathrein hard disk. (Layout by TomLeo, in German)

www.radonmaster.de/robernd/ shows how to remove the hard disk from the receivers HSS820 and UFD552, and how to mout it into a mobile rack. Additionally the most important steps creating CDs and DVDs from video or audio records are described. (in German)

Questions about the ripping software are discussed in the German forum www.satellite-board.de Some members respond also to English questions. A small English section exists in the www.HDTForum.de (Hyundai-Forum).

If you have special questions please ask directly the authors:
Andal: andal1208@arcor.de
Boom: gledermann@gmx.net

Hints, suggestions, and corrections (I know that my English is not perfect) are welcome.
I wish to you successful experiments.
